What does your brand say?

So what is your brand?

Does Google put more or less weight on brands?

When people see your sign or logo, what do they feel? And why does that matter?

Let’s make it clear, shall we?

Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs on clarity of message.

And as Steve Jobs said about Nike, being “the best example the marketing universe has ever seen”……

“Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes! And yet when you think of Nike, you feel something more then a shoe company.”

And later he gets to the reason, saying how they don’t talk about how Nike’s better then Reebok, but how….

“They honor great Athletes. They honor great athletics. That’s who they are. That’s what they’re about.”

Also from Google’s CEO on sorting out relevance…

Google CEO Eric Schmidt on brand value

Building a brand is a ‘shortcut’ in the mind of your prospect. If they feel something about your company’s identity, they will identify with it. They will identify the values that they feel with the values of your company. They will identify wtih this feeling just as quickly as a close friend or family member.

That is why it should be re-enforced with every communication you have with your clients, prospects, and the community.

What do people feel when they see your brand?
