Hello All,
I thought I’d tell you a real story on someone I know who made more then $100,000 a year. He had a marketing job to get new customers to a medical transcription company. He got ahead the way most people get ahead in life with salary jobs. He would jump companys at the offer of $12,000 more a year. He had a successful track record and could really stay focused, build relationships, and close deals.
Sound familiar?
By the time I got to know him, he was flying in every week from out of state since the company he was now with was not local.
He shared his story with me. How we loved making sales calls. He thought that earning more was important to his family and his success. How he is now divorced and his wife is living quite well off of his success. And how he takes very elaborate charter fishing trips by himself. And how his daughters don’t speak to him much anymore but still expect money and gifts, which he diligently provided.
Many in our society would consider this man a success. Would you?
Steve Jobs himself said that his kids are his best accomplishment.
He also said that it’s not what he did, but what he DIDN’T do, that he’s really proud of.
If you take your life and categorize it into these things.
1.Family
2.Friends
3.Work
4.Stuff
Would you really keep them prioritized in this order? What if one of these things from the list dropped off. Would you still feel whole? How about two of them? How about three?
This holiday season, while we’re all trying to get ahead, let’s please consider what’s really important in life.
Please stay blessed Everyone!
