I made money in my sleep last night.

A screen shot from one of our campaigns

This is my favorite part of Internet sales. I’m not sure what you’re business is, but part of my business, and part of what makes me able to do what I do, is I am a successful Affiliate marketer. For those of you who might not know what that is, that means I can sell other people’s products or services online successfully and get a commission on it. ‘Successful’ of course is a loose term, isn’t it? I mean, what really defines success?

When it comes to life, I would say this:

Success is being able to go to bed at night and believe that you did great work that day. You did a few things that you didn’t think you could do but persevered anyways and got it done.

Now when it comes to Internet marketing, I would say something like this.

That perseverance to bring an audience to your ‘thing that’s being sold’ is steadily working. This isn’t a ‘one hit wonder‘, but STEADY SALES that come in on a somewhat predictable schedule given your unique ability to.

  1. GET IT by putting the pieces together correctly.
  2. Finding and keeping the right kind of audience connected with what you’re selling.

Not giving up.

This one is huge.

So many people are 5% or less away from success and give up. There’s no doubt in my mind and I’ve seen it many times.

We teach our children to never give up all the time. When it comes to tying shoes or just figuring out how to get dressed. Don’t give up, keep trying, give the right advice, etc. And if you ever see the look on your kid’s face when they accomplish something they didn’t think they were able to do, what do you think that is?

Shear joy! That’s what it is.

As adults, we shouldn’t be immune to that or dead to that. There are plenty of challenges out there just waiting to be won. But this doesn’t change but it’s sad that some people think it does and keep doing the same thing in and out everyday without the expectation to learn new things, try new challenges, or even bother looking for that kind of excitement.

What a shame that is.

I don’t ever want to be like that and I don’t want you do be like that either. Live your life, because the numbers of healthy days we have in this world are limited. You never know when that rug gets pulled out from under us. But there is one piece of solid single advice I will give you when trying new challenges.

Be around good people.

This cannot be understated. Because you can’t improve on your own. No one can. You are as good as the company you keep. If you don’t think the people around you are helping you get to where you want to be, don’t let it go on forever. You deserve better.

Anyways, when it comes to your core competency think about this.

What is something you enjoy doing or want to enjoy doing? Is this something that not a lot of others are able to do?

The bigger the answer is YES, the better off you’ll be. No doubt about it. Be happy, help others, and SURPRISE yourself by accomplishing some of the tough challenges that you aren’t sure you are capable of finishing. It is through these steps that you’ll truly be satisfied.

Anyways, I wanted to mention my sale last night not to brag, but to tell you the sense of pride I still get after a few years of doing this. This is something that I thought I could not accomplish. I busted my butt and got failure after failure. Eventually after not giving up you realize, it’s not a failure, but figuring out another thing not to do and keep trying until you get it. This is the SILVER BULLET to help you succeed in anything you want to get done. Don’t let the bad stuff beat you up too bad. Just learn from it and move on.

Of the people that try to make money online, most of the give up before seeing it through. Maybe they let it get the best of them or maybe they found something else they’d rather do with there time. But regardless of that, BE PROUD of the things you like to challenge yourself with and then go out and tackle that with everything you’ve got. When you finally succeed, that will be the best feeling of all. And when it happens again and again and again, don’t take it for granted. Appreciating every good thing that happens in your life is the fuel for true happiness. I’m convinced of that.

My sale last night stands for the ability to help people even when I’m not available. To make a voice for myself in a crowded space even while I’m asleep. To make a difference that matters around the clock.

It never gets old.

So what do you really want to accomplish? If it’s something on the Internet, we’d love to connect you to the best and brightest people we know of to help make it happen. For me it’s not the technology I love, but the unlimited benefits and potential if all the pieces could just somehow fit together, THAT’S what we love to do.

So tell me what do you truly love doing? Are you showcasing it on your website? And is your website making money? We’d love to hear about and wish you all the best in your pleasant surprise moments that are ahead.
