The area president (franchisee) of the Dunedin edition of The Waiting Game® is encouraging the community to reach out to the Great Dunedin Community Foundation
Dunedin, Fla. (November 22, 2013) – Vinnie Campagna, the president of the Dunedin edition of ‘The Waiting Game®’, has announced his promotion for The Greater Dunedin Community Foundation, a local charity that is helping the current victims from the recent Dunedin sinkhole. This massive sinkhole has swallowed a boat, a swimming pool, destroyed homes and is threatening much more homes, property, and lives.
With thousands of area homes not being properly protected again sinkholes, some homes in the area have had a sudden sinkhole swallow up a large portion of their homes. And in most cases, any personal belonging left behind in the house cannot be collected for fear injury or death by falling into the sinkhole.
Campagna saw first hand the devastation while distributing his local edition of The Waiting Game® to the Dunedin Community Center, which is only a block from where the large sinkhole has caused so much devastation.
Explaining his local Waiting Game® commitment to helping the community bring awareness and resources to the problem, Mr. Campagna said, “This sinkhole has caused such a scare in the small community of Dunedin. I was fortunate to have met with Shawn Ruddock of The Greater Dunedin Community Foundation. He has helped families with only one set of clothes by donating gift cards to local retailers. They are currently looking for additional donations such as clothes, a home, and funds to help get them through this difficult time.”
Florida has more sinkholes than any other state in our nation. A man in Tampa has even died earlier this year when a sinkhole opened up in his own bedroom.
Because of the porous rocks in Florida like limestone that are often found in the ground in Florida, these rocks are naturally susceptible to dissolving by the acid created by oxygen and water. Sometimes, outside events such as rain, storms, or human activity coupled with this natural process can cause a sinkhole to open up from the ground.
The state Office of Insurance Regulation says sinkhole claims in Florida cost insurers $1.4 billion from 2006 to 2010.
“We are pleased that long time customer Brian Lipsey, owner of Global Ground Solutions, is helping us with this promotion to let everyone know about the fine work that the Greater Dunedin Community Foundation is doing.
